Overview
Woden and Northside Community Services are two of Canberra’s longest-standing community organisations, now working together under shared leadership to strengthen services for local families.
Under CEO Dan English, the partnership is building on each organisation’s strong, place-based roots while improving sustainability and reach. Together, they provide a network of community hubs across the ACT, offering childcare, youth and family services, mental health and aged care programs, and practical support like the Little Pantry food initiative.
“The importance of place-based services can’t be overstated,” says Dan. “The challenge is to balance the benefits of scale with the intimacy that comes from being embedded in community – it’s a unique and very special opportunity.”
Through this collaborative model, Woden and Northside are strengthening local hubs, supporting staff, and ensuring vital community services continue for the long term.
