Tender Funerals Canberra Region

Launched in August 2024, Tender Funerals is a not-for-profit, community-led social enterprise providing compassionate and affordable funeral services in Canberra. Their Fairbairn site has been transformed into a welcoming facility where families can plan services, care for their person, and hold meaningful ceremonies with dignity and inclusivity. By providing at-cost funerals that aren't tied to packages, Tender ensures funerals remain accessible in a region where the average funeral service with a cremation costs around $10,500. A benevolent fund ensures that even families in financial need are still able to achieve a meaningful funeral for their person. In their first year, Tender supported over 140 families, exceeding expectations and receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback. Tender is changing funeral culture in Canberra by giving families real choice, space and confidence to be part of the care and farewell process.
