Launch of the Assistance Beyond Crisis (ABC) Finance Facility

8 June 2017

Launching at Brindabella Business Park on Tuesday 20 June is the new Assistance Beyond Crisis (ABC) micro finance facility. This facility will provide local support to those who have escaped from domestic violence situations and are unable to access appropriate assistance because their assets or income levels  deem them ineligible for government crisis.

The Women’s Centre for Health Matters and the Domestic Violence Crisis Service have been working with Deloitte, The Snow Foundation, CARE Financial Counselling and Service One. Together, they have developed a response for locals who have escaped domestic violence situations and stabilised their situation, but who have immediate financial needs, and whose ability to pay at that point in time is low.

The ABC facility will offer one-off, no interest loans, primarily for providing some stability financially for a short term one-off need. A small number of one-off grants will also be considered.

Financial support for the ABC facility has been received from The Snow Foundation, Service One, Beyond Bank, Deborah & Richard Rolfe, Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, Independent Property Foundation, Ernst & Young, Hands Across Canberra, Dr Tony Tonks, Aspen Medical, Communities@work, and Protiviti.  The launch and fundraising event will be supported by Raging Digital and Piallago Estate on Tuesday 20 June at 7.15am for 7.30am at the Alastair Swayne Theatre, Brindabella Cct, Brindabella Business Park, Canberra Airport
