In a significant development for the Canberra community, Tender Funerals are set to open a new facility in Fairbairn, thanks to a collaborative partnership with The Snow Foundation and Capital Airport Group. This initiative marks a pivotal moment in providing compassionate, affordable and personalised funeral services to the people of the Canberra region.

The Snow Foundation and Capital Airport Group have played instrumental roles in bringing Tender Funerals to the region. There from the beginning, three years ago, The Snow Foundation provided the initial seed funding to do a feasibility study and help find the right site and have since committed funding of $1m inclusive of $750k grant and $250k loan and together formed a significant partnership with Capital Airport Group who are providing pro bono resourcing. The collaboration has ensured that Tender Funerals can establish a home here in Canberra.

Tender Funerals, a respected not-for-profit organisation, is renowned for its commitment to offering affordable, and meaningful funeral services. The new site in Canberra will feature comprehensive facilities, including two arrangement rooms, viewing or vigil rooms, wash and dress rooms, a mortuary, and a community space for workshops and ceremonies, all designed to empower families to understand their end-of-life and funeral options.

“At Tender, our goal is to ensure that families feel supported and empowered to make choices that reflect their values and needs when someone dies. We believe in active participation and transparency, offering services that truly cater to the wishes of the families and individuals we serve. This approach not only honours the deceased but also fosters a healthy grieving process.” Catherine Prosser, General Manager of Tender Funerals Canberra Region said.
“We are very proud of and grateful for our relationship with The Snow Foundation and the Capital Airport Group who have been actively supporting us, far beyond simply providing a grant.”

“In our support for Tender Funerals, we see an opportunity to address the needs of grieving Canberrans in personal and caring ways. This partnership reflects our commitment to dignity and respect for those experiencing loss in our region, ensuring they have access to services that respect their needs and circumstances,” The Snow Foundation’s Georgina Byron said.
“The involvement of Capital Airport Group, particularly in identifying and supplying the new site at Fairbairn, project managing the fit out for specific requirements highlights our family’s collective effort to support community initiatives that make a meaningful impact.”

This new facility not only represents a significant advancement in funeral care options for the Canberra region but also embodies the spirit of community and compassion that Tender Funerals, The Snow Foundation, and Capital Airport Group stand for.
