How to apply for funding

Individuals and charitable organisations can be considered for a grant from the Snow Foundation.

To receive funding, please ensure you address the relevant questions detailed below and send or email your application to:

- Applications for the vast majority of 2008 funding closed on 26 April 2008.
- Applications for funding after this in 2008 close on 20 October 2008.
- Requests for funding for 2009 can be sent through for review at any time.

 

Application for Individuals

 

1. Name of applicant.

2. Contact person and address, phone, email.

3. A brief overview of the situation.

4. What is the grant for and how was the need identified?

5. Who will it help? How?

6. What are the aims and objectives?

7. What difference will it make? How will you tell?

8. Who else has been approached for funding for this project?

9. What is the specific amount sought?

10. Is this a one-off cost or is it ongoing – and if so, where does the applicant hope to obtain future funding?

 

Attachments

1. Some evidence to support your application such as a referral and / or reference.

 

Application for Organisations

 

Organisation Background

1. Name of Organisation and contact names, address, phone, email.

2. Brief overview of the organisation’s background including the purpose and objectives.

3. Who are the people the organization helps?

4. What is its main activity?

5. What is its catchment area?

6. Is it part of a larger or national organisation?

7. What is its management structure?

8. How many staff does it have? How is this broken down into paid staff and volunteers (full / part-time).

9. What are the organisation's current resources?

10. What are the organisation's main sources of income currently; include breakdown of any Government funding? Detail if this has changed significantly over the years.

Grant Proposal

1. What is the grant actually for eg. specific one-off project, resource, capital works?

2. What is the need/issue you are addressing? How was this need was identified? (Please include any evidence if appropriate)

3. Who will it help? How?

4. What are the aims and objectives?

5. When will it happen and how long will it take?

6. A description of activities to be undertaken to address the need.

7. What difference will it make, both immediate and long term?

8. How will you tell if it has worked? What sort of evaluation will take place?

Budget details

1. Total cost and breakdown of the budget.

2. What is the commencement and completion date?

3. Who else has been approached for funding for this project?

4. Support for the project, by other groups or individuals if applicable.

5. Is this a one-off cost or will it continue past the funding period – and if so, where does the applicant hope to obtain future funding?

Context

1. Detail any previous grant history with The Snow Foundation. If so, please include an evaluation if it has not already been provided.

2. Who else does similar work in your field?

3. Is there duplication of this work and does that matter?

Attachments (if not already provided)

1. Copy of latest financial statements for the organisation 

2. Copy of annual report (this may be requested)

Any other relevant documents to support your application eg. research, media clippings
